Anxious wait for Hewlett-Packard staff

JOBS are likely to be cut at Hewlett Packard (HP)'s Bristol sitebut staff must wait to find out if they will be affected.

The IT giant is to cut its UK workforce by 1,400 - part ofcutbacks across its European operations that will see 5,900 HP jobsgo across the continent.

Yesterday HP said that about 450 permanent jobs at itsmanufacturing site in Erskine, Scotland, are to be cut.

Another 950 employees from HP's operating company, which includesits sales and marketing operation in the UK, are also to go. In all7,600 people work for HP in the UK.
