High Temperatures Boost Business for Tucson, Ariz.-Area Ice Distributor.

Oct. 23--Record high temperatures have heated up business at the area's leading ice distributor.

Demand for ice follows the ups and downs of a thermometer, and the unseasonal heat wave -- which saw near-100-degree afternoons Monday through Wednesday -- has caused scorching sales at Reddy Ice Inc., 2720 S. Dodge Blvd., said Al Nieto, delivery supervisor.

The company sold more than 85 tons of ice Wednesday -- 20 tons more than on the same date last year, said Nieto, who speaks enthusiastically about the ice business, in which he has worked his entire professional life.
