Fed: Howard congratulates Bush
CANBERRA, Jan 21 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today congratulated new United States
President George W Bush on his inauguration in Washington.
President Bush took the oath of office yesterday as the 43rd president after defeating
Democrat Al Gore in a bitter drawn-out count.
With his swearing-in, Republicans control the White House and both houses of Congress
for the first time in 48 years.
His inauguration was marred by rain and 20,000 people demonstrating over the Supreme
